1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information. For each category, we have listed the specific data points, where they come from, and why we collect them.
A. Identifiers
This includes your full name, email address, phone number, physical/mailing address, and Internet Protocol (IP) address. We collect identifiers when you fill out our contact or reservation forms, place an order, or simply visit our website.
B. Commercial Information
This includes records of kitten purchases, transaction history, deposit payments, delivery preferences, and purchase intent. We collect this when you reserve or purchase a kitten through our website.
C. Internet and Electronic Network Activity
This includes your browsing history on our site, pages visited, search queries that brought you to our site, clicks, scroll depth, mouse movements, session duration, referring URLs, and interactions with site elements. We collect this automatically through analytics and session recording tools when you visit our website.
D. Geolocation Data
This includes your approximate location (city, state, and country level) as determined from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS-level location data. Our payment processor also uses IP-based geolocation through third-party verification services for fraud prevention.
E. Financial Information
When you make a payment, our payment processor Stripe collects your credit or debit card number, expiration date, and billing address. MeoWoff does not store your full payment card details on our servers. Stripe processes and tokenizes your payment information in compliance with PCI-DSS standards. We receive only a tokenized transaction record and the last four digits of your card for reference.
2. How We Collect Your Information
We collect your information in three ways:
Directly from you — when you fill out a contact form, reservation form, or kitten inquiry form on our website (powered by Elementor Forms and Contact Form 7), or when you call, email, or visit our showroom in Wood Dale, Illinois.
Automatically from your device — when you visit meowoff.us, our analytics and tracking tools collect technical data about your browsing session, device, and interactions. The tools that collect data automatically are Google Analytics 4, Google Ads conversion and remarketing tags, and Microsoft Clarity session recording.
From our payment processor — when you make a deposit or final payment, Stripe collects your payment details directly. Stripe shares limited transaction data with us (confirmation, amount, last four card digits) but retains full payment data under its own privacy policy.
3. Why We Collect Your Information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- Fulfilling your kitten purchase — processing reservations, scheduling delivery or pickup, coordinating with airlines for cargo shipment, and communicating about your kitten’s status and travel arrangements.
- Processing payments — collecting deposits and final payments securely through Stripe.
- Communicating with you — responding to your inquiries, sending order updates, providing post-adoption health guarantee support, and answering questions about kitten care.
- Fraud prevention and security — verifying transactions, preventing unauthorized payments, and protecting against chargebacks.
- Improving our website — analyzing how visitors navigate our site so we can improve the browsing experience, fix usability issues, and make it easier to find the right kitten.
- Advertising — measuring the effectiveness of our Google Ads campaigns, building remarketing audiences to show relevant ads to people who have previously visited our site, and tracking conversions from ad clicks to purchases.
- Legal compliance — meeting our obligations under Illinois animal welfare laws, maintaining records required for our health guarantee, and complying with tax and consumer protection regulations.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share your personal information with the following categories of third parties, and only for the purposes described:
| Category of Recipient | Specific Provider(s) | Data Shared | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payment Processor | Stripe | Name, billing address, payment card data, IP address, transaction details | Payment processing, fraud detection, chargeback management |
| Analytics Provider | Google (GA4) | IP address, device identifiers, browsing behavior, pages visited, session data | Website analytics, traffic measurement, audience insights |
| Advertising Network | Google Ads | IP address, device identifiers, click IDs, conversion events, browsing data | Conversion tracking, remarketing, ad performance measurement |
| Session Recording & Analytics | Microsoft Clarity | IP address, device info, mouse movements, clicks, scroll behavior, page interactions | Session replays, heatmaps, user experience analysis |
| Website Hosting & Infrastructure | WordPress hosting provider | Server logs (IP address, access timestamps, pages requested) | Website operation, security monitoring, performance |
| Airlines & Transport Partners | American Airlines (cargo), ground transport services | Recipient name, phone number, physical address | Live animal shipment coordination and delivery |
We do not sell your personal information to data brokers, list rental companies, or any third party for their own direct marketing purposes unrelated to the services described above.
5. Sale, Sharing, and Disclosure of Personal Information
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), “sharing” means disclosing personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising — even if no money changes hands. “Selling” means exchanging personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration.
Based on these definitions, here is how we classify our data transfers:
| Data Transfer | CCPA Classification | Your Opt-Out Right |
|---|---|---|
| Browsing data sent to Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads for remarketing and audience building | Sharing (cross-context behavioral advertising) | Yes — see Section 10 |
| Session data sent to Microsoft Clarity for heatmaps and session replays | Disclosed for a business purpose (website improvement under a service provider agreement) | Yes — you may opt out via our cookie consent tool |
| Payment data sent to Stripe for transaction processing | Disclosed for a business purpose (necessary for order fulfillment) | No — this is a strictly necessary service provider disclosure |
| Delivery details shared with airline and transport partners | Disclosed for a business purpose (necessary for kitten delivery) | No — this is required to fulfill your order |
We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. We do “share” certain data with Google for advertising purposes as described above, and you have the right to opt out of this sharing at any time.
In the preceding 12 months, we have shared the following categories of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising: Identifiers (IP address, device identifiers), Internet/Electronic Network Activity (browsing data, click data), and Geolocation Data (approximate location). These categories were shared with Google (via GA4 and Google Ads).
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. A cookie is a small text file stored on your device that helps us recognize your browser and remember certain information about your visit. We use the following cookies:
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Stripe | Fraud detection and secure payment processing | Strictly Necessary |
| wordpress_logged_in_*, wp-settings-* | WordPress | Site functionality and admin session management | Functional / Strictly Necessary |
| _ga, _ga_*, _gid | Google Analytics 4 | Website traffic measurement, session tracking, audience insights | Analytics |
| IDE, _gcl_au, _gcl_aw, FPID | Google Ads | Conversion tracking, remarketing, cross-context behavioral advertising | Marketing / Targeted Advertising |
| _clck, _clsk, CLID, ANONCHK, MR, MUID, SM | Microsoft Clarity | Session stitching, heatmaps, scroll tracking, session replays | Analytics |
Strictly Necessary cookies cannot be disabled because they are essential for our website and payment system to function securely. Analytics and Marketing cookies can be disabled through our cookie consent tool or by opting out as described in Section 10.
For a more detailed explanation of each cookie, its duration, and the data it collects, please see our Cookie Policy.
7. Session Recording Disclosure
We use Microsoft Clarity to record and analyze how visitors interact with our website. This technology captures your mouse movements, clicks, scroll behavior, and page interactions to generate heatmaps and session replay videos that help us identify usability problems and improve your browsing experience.
Here is what you should know about session recording on our site:
- Clarity records your interactions with page elements (buttons, links, images, navigation) — not the content you type into forms.
- Personally identifiable information you enter into forms (such as your name, email, phone number, and address) is automatically masked by Clarity before it is transmitted to Microsoft’s servers. We do not see your form inputs in session replays.
- Microsoft acts as a data processor on our behalf. Microsoft states that it does not sell session recording data for its own advertising purposes.
- Session recording data is classified under the “Analytics” category in our cookie consent tool. If you opt out of analytics cookies, Clarity will switch to a cookieless mode that does not stitch sessions together and cannot identify you across page views.
If you prefer not to have your sessions recorded at all, you can opt out using our cookie consent tool, enable the Global Privacy Control signal in your browser, or contact us directly.
8. How Long We Keep Your Information
We do not keep your personal information indefinitely. We retain each category of data only as long as needed for its stated purpose, or as required by law. Here are our specific retention periods:
| Data Category | Retention Period | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Contact information from inquiry forms (name, email, phone) | 24 months from last contact | To support ongoing customer communication and our 2-year genetic health guarantee period |
| Purchase and transaction records | 7 years from transaction date | Tax compliance, financial recordkeeping, and chargeback defense requirements |
| Kitten health and adoption records | Duration of the 2-year health guarantee, plus 12 months | To fulfill our health guarantee obligations under Illinois and applicable state pet purchaser protection laws |
| Analytics data (GA4, Clarity) | 14 months (rolling) | Website performance analysis; aligned with GA4 default retention settings |
| Google Ads conversion and remarketing data | Governed by Google’s retention policies (typically 540 days for remarketing audiences) | Advertising campaign measurement and optimization |
| Payment tokenization data (held by Stripe) | Governed by Stripe’s retention schedule per PCI-DSS compliance | Payment processing, fraud prevention, chargeback representment |
| Server logs (IP, timestamps) | 90 days | Security monitoring and troubleshooting |
When data reaches the end of its retention period, we delete or anonymize it. If deletion is not immediately possible (for example, because data is stored in backup archives), we isolate it from further processing until deletion is completed.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Regardless of which state you live in, we extend the following privacy rights to all US residents. This approach ensures you receive the strongest protections available under any state’s law:
- Right to Know / Access — You can request that we tell you what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we shared it with. You can also request a copy of the specific data points we hold.
- Right to Delete — You can request that we delete the personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain legal exceptions (such as data we must retain for tax compliance or active health guarantee claims).
- Right to Correct — You can request that we fix inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to Opt Out of Sharing for Advertising — You can opt out of having your personal information shared with Google for cross-context behavioral advertising (remarketing, audience building). See Section 10.
- Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a lower quality of service because you exercised any of your privacy rights.
- Right to Data Portability — Where applicable, you can request your personal information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the methods in Section 19. We will verify your identity before processing your request by matching identifying details you provide against the information we have on file. We aim to respond to all verified requests within 45 days. If we need additional time (up to 45 more days), we will let you know and explain why.
You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require the agent to provide written authorization from you and may still need to verify your identity directly.
10. How to Opt Out of Data Sharing
You can opt out of the sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising in several ways:
- Cookie consent tool: Click the “Cookie Settings” or “Privacy Preferences” link in our website footer to open our consent management tool. From there, you can disable Analytics and Marketing cookies with a single click. The “Reject All” option is presented with equal visual prominence to “Accept All.”
- Global Privacy Control (GPC): Enable GPC in your browser or browser extension. Our site automatically detects and honors GPC signals — see Section 11 for details.
- “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link: Click the link in our website footer to submit your opt-out preference directly.
- Contact us: Email info@meowoff.us with the subject line “Opt-Out Request” and we will process your request manually.
When you opt out, we will stop sending your data to Google Ads for remarketing and audience building. Google Analytics will switch to a restricted mode where no advertising cookies are set and no visitor-level data is shared with Google Ads. Microsoft Clarity will switch to cookieless mode.
Opting out does not affect strictly necessary data processing (such as Stripe payment processing) that is required to fulfill your kitten purchase.
11. Global Privacy Control (GPC)
Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a browser-level signal that automatically communicates your preference to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information. It is supported by browsers like Firefox and Brave, and by extensions like Privacy Badger and DuckDuckGo.
Our website honors GPC signals. When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we automatically treat it as a valid request to opt out of data sharing for targeted advertising. Specifically, we will not fire Google Analytics, Google Ads, or Microsoft Clarity tracking scripts that set non-essential cookies for your session. You do not need to take any additional action — the signal is processed automatically.
GPC applies to the specific browser and device where you have enabled it. If you visit our site from a different browser or device without GPC enabled, that session will not be covered unless you separately opt out.
12. “Do Not Track” Browser Signals
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature. There is currently no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and DNT is distinct from the legally recognized Global Privacy Control. We do not currently alter our data collection practices in response to DNT signals. However, we do honor Global Privacy Control signals, which serve a similar purpose and are recognized under state law.
13. Additional Rights for California Residents
Click to expand: Privacy rights specific to California residents under the CCPA/CPRA
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and the CPPA regulations effective January 1, 2026:
- Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: If we collect sensitive personal information (as defined under the CCPA), you have the right to limit our use and disclosure of that information to what is necessary to provide the services you request. Currently, the only category of sensitive personal information that may apply is data of consumers known to be under 16 — see Section 15.
- Right to Know About Automated Decision-Making: We do not use automated decision-making technology that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and provide you with the required disclosure and opt-out mechanism.
- 12-Month Disclosure: In the preceding 12 months, we collected the categories of personal information described in Section 1. We shared Identifiers, Internet/Electronic Network Activity, and Geolocation Data with Google for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclosed Identifiers, Commercial Information, and Financial Information to Stripe for payment processing. We did not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
- Financial Incentive Programs: We do not offer financial incentives (such as loyalty programs or discounts) in exchange for the collection, retention, or sharing of your personal information.
To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us using the methods in Section 19. California residents may also designate an authorized agent by providing a signed written authorization or a power of attorney that complies with California Probate Code sections 4000–4465.
California “Shine the Light” Law: Under California Civil Code § 1798.83, California residents may request information about the disclosure of personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes. Because we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, no such disclosure list is available.
14. Additional State-Specific Rights
Click to expand: Privacy rights under Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, Indiana, and other state privacy laws
If you reside in a state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you may have the following rights in addition to those listed in Section 9:
- Right to Appeal: If we deny your privacy request, residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Indiana, Montana, Oregon, and Delaware have the right to appeal our decision. To appeal, email info@meowoff.us with the subject line “Privacy Appeal.” We will respond within 60 days (or the timeframe specified by your state’s law). If the appeal is denied, we will provide you with instructions on how to file a complaint with your state’s attorney general or relevant regulatory authority.
- Right to Opt Out of Profiling: Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and other applicable states may opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not currently engage in such profiling.
- Sensitive Data Processing: Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, and Indiana require affirmative opt-in consent before processing sensitive personal information. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health data, biometric data, or precise geolocation). If this changes, we will obtain your consent first.
- Universal Opt-Out Mechanism: Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and Delaware can exercise their opt-out rights through the Global Privacy Control signal. We honor this signal as described in Section 11.
To exercise any right available under your state’s privacy law, contact us using the methods in Section 19.
15. Children’s Privacy
Our website and services are directed exclusively to adults 18 years of age and older. Kitten purchases involve legally binding contracts and significant financial commitments that require an adult buyer.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 years of age. We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, or from a minor between 13 and 16 without their affirmative authorization, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at info@meowoff.us so we can take appropriate action.
16. Data Security
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include:
- SSL/TLS encryption on all pages of meowoff.us (HTTPS)
- PCI-DSS compliant payment processing through Stripe (we never store full card numbers on our servers)
- Access controls limiting employee access to personal information on a need-to-know basis
- Regular security updates to our WordPress platform and plugins
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we experience a data breach that compromises your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by Illinois law (815 ILCS 530) and other applicable state breach notification statutes.
17. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites, such as our Instagram page, Google Reviews, the Illinois Secretary of State business search portal, and cat registry websites (TICA, CFA, WCF). These external sites have their own privacy policies and practices. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
If we make material changes that significantly affect how we handle your personal information — such as collecting new categories of data, sharing data with new categories of third parties, or changing our data retention practices — we will provide prominent notice on our website before the changes take effect.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated policy.
