The British Shorthair brings a calm, affectionate, and quietly observant presence to any home. With a dense plush coat, round face, and soulful copper or amber eyes (sometimes blue or green, depending on color), the British is a picture of stability and charm. Energy stays low-to-moderate, which suits indoor living and busy Michigan households.
Prefer a silkier, flowing coat? The British Longhair offers the same teddy bear expression with extra glamour. Grooming needs increase slightly, yet the temperament remains steady and sweet-natured.
Dense, plush coat; round, full cheeks; medium-to-large build; thick tail; and that unmistakable teddy bear look.
Copper and amber are common; blue or green can appear with certain colors like silver, golden shaded, or colorpoint.
Blue (a fan favorite in Michigan), lilac, cream, black, and white. You’ll also find chocolate and cinnamon, plus bicolor, classic/mackerel tabby, tortie, and colorpoint. Love sparkle? Ask about silver shaded or golden shaded (chinchilla/tipped) kittens and how color influences price and show potential.
Looking for a cat that fits with kids or a gentle dog? British Shorthairs do well with respectful children and cat-friendly dogs when introduced slowly. Many enjoy being near you rather than constantly on you; they’re affectionate without being needy. Quiet by nature, they adapt to apartments and houses alike and thrive as indoor cats who share calm routines.
Feed for slow, steady growth – British cats mature later than many breeds. We provide food recommendations (quality wet and balanced dry) and a transition plan to avoid tummy upsets. A sturdy scratching post, a roomy carrier, and daily play keep them fit without overexertion.
Grooming stays simple for Shorthairs: a weekly grooming brush session removes loose undercoat and adds shine. Longhairs benefit from brushing two to three times a week. Trim nails regularly and wipe eyes if needed.
Your kitten comes up to date on shots for their age (FVRCP, plus rabies when applicable), dewormed on schedule, and vet-checked with a wellness exam. We offer FIV/FeLV testing and can arrange HCM (echo) and PKD (DNA) testing on request. Expect a clear care guide covering litter training, feeding schedules, and the vaccinations timeline. We assist with spay/neuter planning when your vet gives the green light.
We place health, ethics, and service at the heart of every match. You receive comprehensive records, a starter kit, and seven-days-a-week support – plus flexible delivery options like a flight nanny or air cargo. The price for cats is the total one and includes all vaccinations and neutering/spaying. (Neutering a kitten is our free option with no fee.)
It is generally considered safe to spay kittens before they are fully grown. In fact, many veterinarians recommend spaying or neutering kittens as early as 8-16 weeks old. This is known as early-age spay/neuter or pediatric spay/neuter.
Early spaying has several benefits:
However, it is important to consult with a veterinarian to determine the best time to spay a kitten based on it individual health, breed, and circumstances. We will definitely do this if the age and health conditions of a kitten allow occurring the surgery before being shipped. We will not neuter/spay the kitten in the cases if a buyer will ask to neuter a kitten on its own or will buy the breeding rights for an additional cost with the kitten)
